Throughout his life, Michael Jordan felt an intense passion for competition and speed, the game of Basketball almost completely satisfied this passion as it provided him with an outlet to satisfy his hunger for both. Once he stepped away from the game, the absence of this outlet pushed him to seek other ways to quench his competitive thirst. In 2003, Michael Jordan founded Michael Jordan's Motorsports, a competitive Motorcycle racing team lead by riders Aaron Yates and Jake Holden. The Motorsports team represented MJ's "New Love" and the team's original colors inspired several of the recently released "Yellow/Black" Air Jordan Retro colorways.

To celebrate their fourth year running, Jordan Brand and Michael Jordan's Motorsports came together to create the "MJ Motorsports" Air Jordan Retro IV. Based on the publicly released "Mars" Air Jordan Retro IV, the "MJ Motorsports" Air Jordan Retro IV reinterpretes the "Fire Red" IV with the team's new Blue/White/Black motorcycle and uniform colors.

The Air Jordan 4 (IV) Retro - Black / Varsity Red is a classic in the Air Jordan 4 (IV). It features an all black upper with plastic grated mesh on the sides as well as on the bottom of the tongue near the toe area. It also features a sole which consists of grey, white and red. It has a visible air sole unit at the heel, and although overall it holds a simple design, it is highly sought after by true Air Jordan fanatics.

The Air Jordan 4 (IV) Retro - Black Cat (Black / Black - Light Graphite) feature a simple all black colorway, with a visible air bubble at the heel. They are well known by their plastic mesh located on the side panels and at the bottom of the tongue, along with the notorious style of laceing holes. They came with a poster which featured Michael Jordan's famous shot over Clevand Cavalier's Craig Ehlo, which has come to be known as "The Shot". They were a general release, and sold out easily upon their release.

The Air Jordan 4 (IV) Retro - White / Black (Cement) features a white upper with grey and black accents. The grey portions are speckled with black, giving the shoe a nice design. These were released at a time when Air Jordans did not cost as much, as you can see from the $100 price tag. They are classics, and any true Air Jordan fiend would kill to get his hands on a pair of these. Fortunately for many people, they were a general release, so even people with smaller feet got the chance to enjoy their beauty.

The Air Jordan 4 (IV) Retro - Pure Money $ (White / Metallic Silver) features an all white colorway, and is great for the summertime. It was released alongside two other pairs of the Air Jordan 4 (IV), and is the only other Air Jordan theat has been dubbed "Pure Money", besides the Air Jordan 3 (III) Retro - Pure Money $ (White / Metallic Silver). Once again, as with the Air Jordan 4 (IV) Retro - White / Chrome - Classic Green, many fanatics are upset at the fact that the mesh on the side panels and at the bottom of the tongue turn yellow after a while.

The Air Jordan 4 (IV) Retro - White / Military Blue - Neutral Grey was not as big of a hit as many thought it would be. Early sample pics of the shoe revealed an all white upper with blue trim. It wasn't until we saw actual pictures that the grey portion around the toe was introduced. It's still a nice colorway, but the sample pics looked much better. What did help these Air Jordan 4 (IV) to sell was the fact that they were a general release, so women and children were able to find their sizes too.

The Air Jordan 4 (IV) Retro - Mars Blackmon (White / Varsity Red - Black) was dubbed the nickname Air Jordan 4 (IV) Fire Red Mars after the colorway, and after the picture of Mars Blackmon embossed on the heel of the shoe. We have all come to know and love him from his appearances in Air Jordan commercials. These feature a white leather upper with red and black accents. The only knock on these, as with all of the Air Jordan 4 (IV) leather versions, is that the front creases very easily, which is hard to maintain.
